REMEMBER YOUR OATH!

DONATE to Jacksonville Area Legal Aid

As lawyers, we all solemnly swore an oath to help those less fortunate. There’s no better way to fulfill that oath than through a contribution to Jacksonville Area Legal Aid.

Navigating the courts and the legal system can be intimidating and confusing. Sometimes our legal processes are an unintentional weapon used against those who can’t afford an attorney. We are there to help, but sadly, due to lack of funding we turn away 80% of the cases in need.

Rule 4-6.1
Rules Regulating the Florida Bar

As part of a lawyer’s professional responsibility, every lawyer should:

  1. render pro bono legal services to the poor; and
  2. participate in other pro bono service activities that directly relate to the legal needs of the poor.

A lawyer’s professional responsibility to pro bono legal service to the poor may be discharged by:

  1. annually providing at least 20 hours of pro bono legal service to the poor; or
  2. making an annual contribution of at lease $350 to a legal aid organization.

Jacksonville Area Legal Aid, Inc. (JALA) is a non-profit law firm dedicated to providing free civil legal assistance to those who could not otherwise afford it.
