As the name implies, the Campaign goal is to increase participation in JALA’s annual fundraising campaign by ten percent each year for the four year period 2006-2010. A lofty goal, but a necessary one for JALA’s continued success. Contrary to popular belief, JALA is not funded by guaranteed money from the Federal Government, but depends upon competitive grants and donations for the majority of its funding. Every day in this community unscrupulous predators take advantage of more and more of our low-income neighbors, increasing the need for JALA’s assistance. As such, a successful “10-Four” Campaign is vital to both the future of JALA, and to the future of JALA’s client population.
If you are an attorney, this year as you pay your annual Florida Bar membership dues, please remember the aspirational goal for pro bono public service espoused by the Florida Bar in Rule 4-6.1 of the rules regulating Florida Bar members. If you have been unable to give 20 hours of your time to provide pro bono legal services to the poor (or even if you have), please donate $350.00 to JALA, your local Legal Aid organization. Please also consider extending your generosity beyond the aspirational amounts. Such a donation will count toward the “10-Four” Campaign goal, and will help ensure that JALA is able to become an even stronger part of the infrastructure of this community.
