Pro Bono Participation

There are two broad categories of volunteer opportunities:

1. CASE PARTICIPATION
Case Participation includes Case Representation and serving as an Expert Resource for pro bono attorneys.  Attorneys are needed in all areas of civil legal representation, with areas of highest need being:  Consumer Issues, Family Law matters, and Probate.  However, all areas of expertise are needed and appreciated, and we look forward to matching each willing pro bono attorney with a rewarding pro bono experience.

2. PROJECT PARTICIPATION
Project Participation opportunities include serving as an intake interviewer, conducting monthly informational clinics, brochure translation for JALA's Fair Housing Unit, participating in Ask-A-Lawyer, and other valuable efforts. 

Attorneys who choose case representation as a volunteer placement will be matched with clients whose issues fit within the attorney's practice areas.  Attorneys indicate areas of interest by submitting the Pro Bono Attorney On-Line Sign up form available on this web site.  We work closely with pro bono attorneys during case referral and during the progress of the case.  Many of the cases accepted by JALA are referred by medical personnel through the Northeast Florida Medical Legal Partnership (NFMLP), for assistance with legal issues that are negatively impacting a patient's health and well-being.  More information on the NFMLP may be found at www.nfmlp.org. 

New pro bono projects are in development, and JALA is always interested in new program ideas.
