Mortgage Rescue Project

This project will address the systemic discrimination of black families in the Jacksonville Metropolitan Statistical Area Counties of Duval, Clay, Nassau and St. Johns in purchasing and keeping their homes.  With 60% of the home loans to black families being subprime, it is a logical consequence that black families are disproportionately losing their homes to foreclosure.  The foreclosures are merely a part of the continuing harm to black families that began with targeting of subprime loans to black families.  The foreclosures themselves are riveted with mortgage fraud and a host of mortgage abuses so as to put most foreclosures against black families in question.  The foreclosures will more often than not reveal black families saddled with a subprime loan while being eligible for a conventional loan.
